Rui_Shi_Zhuo_photoRui Shi Zhuo was born in China in 1956. He received a Bachelor of Music degree from Shanghai Conservatory in 1986 and moved to Canada in 1991 to study composition at the University of British Columbia with Keith Hamel and Stephen Chatman. He received a Master of Music degree from UBC in 1995. Zhuo has composed music for Chinese and Western ensembles, a sacred cantata and a concert opera, and several works for solo and chamber groups. As well, he writes music for film and other media and is the composer of the soundtrack for the National Film Board animated film The Chinese Violin and for the CDRom game Lotus Spring. He was the Music Adjudicator for Vancouver Kiwanis Music Festival during 2004-2007 seasons, and was teaching composition/conducting at the Prairie Bible Institute in 2003-2005. On July 19, 2011, Rui conducted the Si-Chuan Symphony Orchestra to premiere his new symphonic work “The Light of Kingdom Shu” in China.Rui is currently the artistic director and conductor at the BC Chinese Orchestra.

 

卓汭仕 作曲

卓汭仕先生是上海民族樂團常任指揮,1986年畢業於上海音樂學院,1991年獲加拿大UBC研究生獎學金,師承音樂教授切特曼博士及漢默爾博士,攻讀作曲,並於1995年獲得碩士學位卓先生作品曾獲加拿大Leo Award提名,20076月加拿大音樂中心評選他為移民作曲家中,對加拿大音樂最有貢獻及影響力的加拿大作曲家之一

卓先生作品深受高度評價,其作品有「為了中國」、「中國小提琴」(為加拿大電影局動畫而作)交響詩、「哦揚子江」、「導板-為琵琶及室內樂而作」、「龍在他鄉」、「弦樂四重奏與二胡之氣形」、「我心中的奧運」、「山歌與都市節拍」、「盤古之聲」等


卓先生曾指揮過五十餘場大型交響音樂會,和他合作過的交響樂團遠自保加利亞、捷克、北京大學,近自溫哥華新音樂UBC現代演奏家聖樂團,加拿大遠東廣播及中華樂團等1999年在捷克舉行的第八屆國際指揮研討會上,獲西波西米亞交響樂團投票選舉他為最受歡迎的指揮,並獲二等獎2007年開始,卓先生出任為〔庇詩中樂團〕 及〔知音合唱團〕 指揮兼作曲卓先生在 20112月的一項國際性的音樂研討會-《加中跨越音樂文化創新項目探討西方管弦樂及中國傳統音樂的連接和界限,指揮〔庇詩華夏樂團〕與〔UBC音樂學院教授樂團〕,演繹3位著名中國作曲家和3位著名加拿大作曲家的新作。2011719日,卓先生指揮四川交響樂團首演最新作品大型交響音畫古蜀之光,獲得極大成功。

Inspired by the landscape of Yellow Mountain, the subtitles are silent wood, cloudland, and fog. This piece was commissioned by the Orchid Ensemble with the assistance of the Canada Council for the Arts.
