Sound of Dragon – preserve heritage, seek innovation
Venue: the Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre
A 3-day festival of music rooted in or inspired by Chinese music. However, it is really a festival of no ethnic and nationality boundaries. The music presented includes many diverse styles. Many you may not have imaged playing with Chinese musical instruments. But Vancouver music community has been doing it! Whether your interests are in Chinese traditional music, Canadian contemporary music, fusion and world music, or the more avant-garde and experimental improvised music, we have the concerts to suit your taste. Sound of Dragon showcases the talents of Vancouver”s own music community and national/international guests. Some of the performers include the Orchid Ensemble, the Vancouver Inter-Cultural Orchestra, Proliferasian, Birds of Paradox, the Vancouver Chinese Music Ensemble, the Little Giant Chinese Chamber Orchestra from Taiwan, and many more soloists and groups.

produced by the Sound of Dragon Society and Orchid Ensemble with the following partners: the Canadian Music Centre, the Vancouver Inter-Cultural Orchestra, the Taiwanese Canadian Cultural Society, Caravan World Rhythms, Vancouver Biennale Society, Vancouver Asian Heritage Month Society, and the Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre.
